The City of Jyväskylä's Hhub ecosystem for sport, health promotion and well-being has signed an agreement with the Nordic Sport Tech Alliance, aiming to attract Nordic investment in sport and health companies.

The Nordic Sportstech Alliance is a cooperation and partnership agreement between the Nordic Sportstech ecosystems. The agreement focuses on strengthening cooperation between Nordic organisations. This initiative includes sportstech hubs from Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Iceland to scale startups and strengthen the region’s impact on the global sports stage.  The first to sign the agreement were Hhub in Jyväskylä and The Factory in Norway, a Norwegian accelerator and venture capital firm supporting start-ups in sportstech.

- Our job is to help SMEs succeed, and we need tangible ways to do this. That is why I am particularly pleased with this agreement, which will create new opportunities for our companies, says Ari Tolonen, Deputy Mayor of Business and Employment Services.

In the future, partners will meet regularly to share knowledge across countries. One of the concrete objectives is to help startups scale in the Nordics and gain market traction. Another aim is to share information on relevant national events and programs with local ecosystems and companies.

- One of the key advantages of the alliance is the ability to leverage the diverse networks of its partners. With access to key stakeholders in sports, health, and technology across the Nordics and beyond, the alliance will act as a catalyst for startups looking to scale, says Svein Erik Sogn from TheFactory.

The Nordic region, known for its excellence in sports and health, is entering a new chapter with the formation of the Nordic Sportstech Alliance.

- Startups are using AI, data analytics, and cutting-edge technology to enhance athletic performance, transform fan experiences, and promote health and wellness, comments Program Manager Nina Rautiainen.

The alliance aims to create a thriving ecosystem where entrepreneurs, investors, and industry players collaborate to develop world-class innovations. By pooling resources and expertise, the Nordics are positioning themselves as leaders in sportstech, leveraging their progressive healthcare systems, vast data resources, and culture of innovation.

The Nordic region excels in areas like wearables, performance analytics, fan en- gagement, injury prevention, and digital health solutions.

- Nordic sportstech startups are creating solutions that bridge the gap between professional sports and everyday fitness, enabling individuals to improve their physical and mental well-being, says Sogn.

In the ecosystem agreement between the City of Jyväskylä and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, one aim is to extend the value network objective from national to Nordic. This objective is now becoming a reality.

- This alliance offers our companies in the sports, health and well-being sector opportunities for Nordic investment, celebrates Rautiainen.
