Hippos Sport Accelerator
The Hippos Sport Accelerator project is establishing an accelerator program in Jyväskylä for the fields of physical activity, sports, health and wellbeing. Its aim is to accelerate the growth, RDI collaboration and internationalization of startups, micro-enterprises and SMEs, while strengthening Hippos' position as an attractive hub for expertise and innovation in the sector.
The project brings together companies, higher education institutions, research organizations, investors, and international networks. It supports companies in their development, piloting and growth journeys within the Hippos innovation and competence ecosystem.
The project is implemented by the City of Jyväskylä, JAMK University of Applied Sciences and KIHU (the Finnish Institute of High Performance Sport).
Seed Village

Sport Innovation Hub
Sport Innovation Hub Jyväskylä project develops and models various ways of conducting RDI (Research, Development, and Innovation) activities within the ecosystem of excellence related to sports and physical activity. Additionally, the aim is to leverage the underutilized RDI potential to support the growth of small and medium enterprises and to promote success in sports, physical activity, and well-being.
The main implementer of the project is the High Performance Sports Institute KIHU, with the University of Jyväskylä (JYU) and Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences (Jamk) as co-implementers.
KIHU Sports Lab
Different measurement and testing services are an effective means to improve and facilitate product development. Through the commissioned studies carried out by KIHU Sports Lab, companies can obtain researched information about their product features and unbiased facts to support their marketing efforts.
KIHU Sports Lab has years of experience in researching and analyzing various products. Our operations are based on the top-level expertise of the Finnish Institute of High Performance Sport KIHU in sports research, development, and innovation.
