The Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences at the University of Jyväskylä was ranked ninth in ShanghaiRanking. The list comprises 300 sport-related units from universities all over the world. The faculty’s ninth place in the ranking is very positive news.
“We are thrilled about our position in the global top 10,” says Sarianna Sipilä, professor and vice dean responsible for research. “It is an indication of the level and quality of our scientific research.”
ShanghaiRanking published its first ranking of sports-related units in 2016. The faculty’s position was 40th in 2016, 36th in 2017 and 29th in 2018. No ranking was made in 2019.
“According to our strategy, our aim is to be among the best five in the world by 2030, and the direction is definitely right,” Sipilä says.
